Connor Group’s Aleks Zabreyko will serve as a panelist at IMA Annual Global Conference


The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) is hosting its annual Step Up at IMA23 Accounting and Finance Conference on June 11 – 14, 2023, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.


Aleks Zabreyko, Connor Group Managing Partner - Strategic Initiatives, Senior Technical Partner, has been asked to provide his expertise as one of three panelists during the conference's Financial Reporting at Crossroads:  Update and Perspectives on New Rules and Trends presentation.  


During the session, the group will cover changes in the financial reporting environment. This session will provide an update on recently issued rules and a broader consideration of where financial reporting is headed. Finance and accounting leaders will discuss the practicalities of implementing these new rules and the bigger picture that balances the perspectives of auditors, valuation experts, and investors.  


Attendees can ask questions and collaborate on the following:

• Recent governance and personnel changes at regulatory and standard-setting bodies and what these may mean for the profession.

• Larger trends and directions for financial reporting.

• Develop and implement processes, systems, and controls to comply with new rules and standards.

The session is moderated by Patti Humble, Chief Accounting Officer at UPS.


Panelists include:


Marsha L. Hunt, Board Member, Financial Accounting Standards Board

Marsha began her first term with the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) on July 1, 2017. She was later reappointed to a second five-year term that concludes on June 30, 2027.

Marsha previously served as vice president and corporate controller for Cummins Inc., where she was responsible for external reporting, consolidation, finance systems, accounting policy, insurance risk management, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. As a preparer of financial statements, she brings vast experience and broad knowledge of financial accounting and reporting issues facing large public companies.

Paul Hubling, CMA, CIA, CPA, Director of Technical Accounting, Cleveland Cliffs

Paul is Director, Technical Accounting for Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., the largest integrated steel company in the US. His responsibilities include special projects, business acquisitions, accounting policies, technical accounting, and research. He determines the appropriate accounting treatment for unusual or complex transactions and works closely with the company’s actuaries and valuation consultants.

Paul is a long-time member of the Institute of Management Accountants Financial Reporting Committee. The committee provides comments to the FASB, the SEC, and other organizations to represent the interests of industry in standards setting.  

Aleks Zambreyko - Managing Partner - Strategic Initiatives, Senior Technical Partner, Connor Group

Aleks is a member of the Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF) of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the AICPA Digital Assets Task Force, which develops interpretive accounting and auditing guidance for cryptocurrencies, tokens, and other digital assets. Aleks served on the Financial Reporting Executive Committee (FinREC) of the AICPA during 2018-2021.

Aleks has extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in US GAAP and IFRS and in-depth familiarity with issues affecting emerging growth companies, both private and public, in technology, software, cloud, biotechnology, medical devices, and pharmaceutical industries.
